Blendtec Designer 650
When choosing the right high-end blender, it’s important to do your research. All Blendtec blenders are made for high performance blending and use only high quality materials, the Blendtec 650 S is a new design by Blendtec and features digital touch screen functions and it’s sleek new look and also comes with the Wildside Jar and an 8 year warranty.
The sleek compact design adds a certain powerful enriched feeling to your kitchen, enhancing the look and feel. The Blendtec 650 S weighs 10lbs, and is 15 inches tall, it has the enhanced 3.8hp, 1560 watt motor which Blendtec uses on all the other Blendtec blender models. The Touch slider on the 650 display has a glassy glow and gives you manual control over the blend at the touch of your finger, and the 6 automatic digital buttons below the slider give you 6 different timed cycles to choose from. The controls on the display give you the means to get a perfect blend every time.
Blendtec Designer 650 Warranty
Blendtec makes blenders with the intention of durability, and are so confident in the quality of their blenders, that they just increased their 7 year warranty on most new domestic blenders to a whopping 8 years; which means that Blendtec is guaranteeing your blender will work fine for 8 years, that’s a strong warranty. If there’s any malfunction in the motor base, display screen, or any other moving parts or if the jar leaks or blade is broken from normal wear and tear, they’ll send you new parts, free of shipping costs, or you can send in the motor and base and they will fix it or replace it.
Refurbished Vs. New Blendtec Models
Maybe your budget doesn’t currently allow you to purchase a $600 blender. If that’s the case, don’t worry because Blendtec offers more affordable blender models as well as refurbished blender models. Some of the very best blenders can be bought at a lowered rate, through refurbishment. You’ll get the same high quality construction, the same amazing features and performance, but at a lower price. Blendtec even offers monthly payment plans on their website on their refurbished models for those that qualify.
Refurbished Blendtec models go through excessive testing to ensure that they work well. Each blender goes through inspection of the motor, electronics, blades, jar, etc. Every refurbished Blendtec model comes with an entirely new touch pad, on which each button is tested to ensure function. The base is inspected for cosmetic damage and the rubber feet are replaced for added stability. In fact, any Blendtec blender that’s meant to be refurbished has to undergo extensive testing, and then comes with 3 year warranty, which is still an excellent amount of time compared to most lower-tier blender companies.
Blendtec Designer 650 Automatic and Manual Controls
Blendtec 650 S blender model has a whopping 100 manual speeds on the touch slider control, which allows for very precise finger control. When you place your finger on the slider the blender turns on at where ever you place your finger, could be a high speed or low speed, once started it will run a 50 cycle and turn off, during the cycle you can move your finger back and forth, left to right, low to high, on the slider which will change the speed. You’ll have incredible control over smoothie recipes, ice cream recipes, dips, and many other blender recipes.
Below the touch slider are 6 pre programmed automatic blending cycles. These preset cycles are specifically designed for particular blends. These are the following automatic settings on the Blendtec 650 S; Smoothie, Salsa, Ice Cream, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, and Self Clean. Each button is set to change speeds on it’s own and stop on it’s own, you can simply push the button and walk away.
The Blendtec 650 S also comes with Smart blend technology, which senses potential issues like overheating, loading errors, or even air pockets to ensure that you get the perfect blend every single time.
The Pulse Feature is to the right of the slider next to the power button and is an essential tool which comes on all Blendtec blender models. It is used for chopping and finishing up a blend, great for thick recipes like dips and ice creams.
Blendtec Designer Blade and Jar
The blades on Blendtec jars are thick and dull. It’s a simple two blade design which is great for cleaning, you can comfortably reach your hand into and under the blades of the jar and not worry about cutting yourself.
The Jar is made from Co-polyester Material and is BPA Free. The blades can spin up to 300 miles per hour, which is enough force around the bottom of the jar to cause enough friction to heat up soups and make hot soy milk and other hot blender recipes. The blades are made from stainless steel, and are about 80% thicker than other blender blades, and 10 times as strong, making the durable and efficient.
The blender jar that comes with the Blendtec 650 S is the Wildside Jar, which is made with an additional 5th side – smaller than the others – that helps pull ingredients into the blade so that you get a perfect blend every time. Items like fruit and ice hit the square sides of jar, and are eventually pulled back into towards the blades through inertia. The jar is designed to pull things down for you so Blendtec advertises that you don’t need a tamper with their jars. The Wildside Jar has the big 4 inch blade and can hold 90oz vs the Blendtec standard jar which has the 3 inch blade and can only hold 64oz.
Lightweight and Durable Design
As mentioned previously, each Blendtec blender is made with exquisite attention to detail. Weighing in at just 10.7 lbs, and featuring a simple but elegant design, this machine will fit well into just about any kitchen, and is easy to move. The durability of this blender is pretty unrivaled as well; the drive socket never needs to be replaced, ever. This is because it’s made out of steel, not plastic, like most other blender parts and companies. The motor is also among some of the most powerful, and is fully able to compete with commercial blenders.
Blendtec Designer Recipes and Blends
We never really consider how useful a high-end blender really is until we realize how many different things it’s useful for. If you’re an at home cook, love to entertain, HAVE to have your morning smoothies – health=wealth, or have had an ongoing curiosity about trying to make ice-cream, getting a Blendtec 650 might be a great investment, particularly if you’ll be using it frequently. Because the new ones come with an insane 8 year warranty, you know they’re high quality and last as long as products used to last before the the industrial revolution.
I make smoothies nearly every day, and have also tried making dips and nut butters with $40 blenders, only to be sorely disappointed with the result of the blend. (Little specs of almond or grape skin, anyone? We thought not.) Blenders are a great tool to make many different recipes, whether it’s smoothies or juices, blended soups, or yummy dips to share on game night. So, to give you a bit of a teaser for what life could be like with a Blendtec 650 S, we’ve decided to share a few recipes with you to enhance your consideration process.
Smoothies and Juice Recipes
Ok, first of all, if you like making smoothies and juices, you probably already know all about the various benefits to having raw, fresh juice and blended vegetables and fruit. Because smoothies use the whole fruit, you’re able to get more fiber, as well as consume more nutrients. Not to mention that adding nutrients through supplement powders is an option as well. The one drawback here is that you might find yourself using more sugar than necessary because fruit is, after all, nature’s candy. The best way to combat this is to add lots of greens and simply limit the amount of fruit you add to reduce sugar.
This Green Smoothie features kale, spinach, mango for taste, and water. Extremely easy, very tasty.
A Carrot Ginger Tumeric Smoothie is one of the most anti-inflammatory things you can make for yourself. Hydrating, refreshing and packed with anti-oxidants.
If you ever feel like a treat but still want to have something healthy, this Vegan Chocolate Smoothie might be the perfect option for you. Rich, filling, velvety and only takes 5 minutes to make.
The Blendtec 650 S comes with an automatic digital button you can simply push to make your smoothie recipes. It will stop on it’s own when finished.
Ice Cream and Frozen Desert Recipes
How convenient would it be to have a frozen treat in your freezer for movie nights? How much more awesome would those frozen treats be if they were healthy? Making ice-cream or frozen deserts at home is the best way to ensure that the quality of the ice-cream you consume is to your standard – you’re making yourself, and have the option to choose all of the ingredients. A great way to ensure your ice-cream has a good balance of flavors is to freeze about one ice cube tray of whatever liquid you plan on making your base, whether that’s milk, almond milk, cashew milk, etc. Sneak a little avocado or protein powder in? Go. Add fresh strawberries? Check. Make the most decadent chocolate ice cream known to man? Check. Whatever your preference, having control over what you and your family consume is the best possible way to ensure both enjoyment and health.
This Blueberry Ice Cream is a perfect example of healthy ice cream. Blueberries, bananas, and yogurt is all you need

Now we thought we’d feature one good ol’ bad for ya ice cream… the kind with cream, sugar, fat, etc. This Chocolate Ice cream Recipe will hit the spot just right. If you like throw in some brownies to make it total perfection.
The best way to add in the ingredients for blender ice cream recipes is soft to hard with the softer ingredients at the base of the jar and the harder ingredients and ice on top of the softer ingredients, this way you won’t get an air pocket. When you have all your ingredients placed in the jar just push the ice cream button and the Blendtec 650 will make it for you.
Soup Recipes
Alright ya’ll, who doesn’t like a bisque? Or a blended cilantro soup with spicy shrimp? Or an amazing clam chowder? Whether you want to create dinner for one, or for 12, the Blendtec 650 S will have you covered, you can blend your vegetables with water or broth and cook the soup right in the blender jar, although the texture will be hot and liquidity after the blender cooks the soup up you can use the pulse feature and add in ingredients to make the soup chunky to give it a thicker texture. Remember that you can always blend the base of a soup too, and then add solid ingredients in later. Cooking ingredients separately tends to deliver better flavor results anyway. Fresh organic soup.
This Cauliflower Soup Recipe from Food and Wine will warm your insides with a bit of herbed goat cheese to finish. Made with cream, leeks, potatoes, cauliflower, garlic, oil, and more, it’s the perfect soup for colder months.

If you’re thinking about making a soup that’s more like a detox, you might want to try this Alkalizing Green Soup. Your body has to constantly work to maintain a pH of 7.35. A lot of the foods we eat are acidic, even ones we wouldn’t think of, like bananas.
The Blendtec 650 S comes with a soup button on the display which you can press and walk away, it will cook the soup for you and turn off when it’s finished.
Dips, Batters, and Salsas
Our favorite dip has got to be Trader Joe’s spinach and artichoke dip. It’s made with Greek yogurt and is generally low fat, although incredibly tasty. No more having to rush out for the right condiment – unless you’re feeling way lazy. Turn up the heat with a nice, chunky salsa, or flavor any meal with fragrant and savory chimichurri. This blender will kick butt on making a perfect batter for any fried fish or chicken as well. Hummus? This blender has you covered. Want to make the perfect blueberry pancake or brownie? Want it to be healthy as well? You can do that!
Chimichurri has got to be one of the tastiest condiments there is. Green herbs, garlic, bit of wine vinegar, sea salt, and olive oil make Chimichurri of the easiest to make, too. Originally from Argentina, it’s generally used on meat, like steak, although we love putting it on sandwiches and even using it as a salad dressing from time to time.
Hummus is one our go to condiments too. It’s healthy and delicious, and there are variations for those that might like a little extra flavor, like adding jalapenos, or roasted red peppers, for instance.
If you’re based in California, you know how seriously west coasters take their Mexican food. This Spicy Vegan Salsa recipe will give any dish you make an extra kick, which makes sense, considering it has habaneros!
You Blendtec 650 S will also make great batter… how about some Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with fresh strawberries? Or Cinnamon Roll pancakes?
Want a perfect batter for frying fish? Try this, but use your blender to ensure the ingredients are evenly dispersed. Don’t be afraid to add other herbs and spices, too!
Their are many recipes for dips, batters, and salsas that you can find in the cook book which comes with your Blendtec blender. The 650 S comes with a salsas button which you can use for thicker recipes like these.
Baking and Flours
Want to make your own coconut flour? Or almond flour? Want to add in custom ingredients and make custom flour? Like dried fruit, or herbs? Any chance you’re thinking about creating a perfect bread and want to blend all of your dry ingredients together to ensure perfect distribution of flavor? This is just one way in which the Blendtec 650 S can help enhance the flavor of anything you choose to make. Add thyme, garlic powder, chilli pepper, anything you like to make the exact flour or baking mix that you want. Let’s get going!
Making Almond Flour, for instance, is incredibly easy; all you have to do is get some almonds and process away. Ambitious Kitchen has great recipes for almond flour based baked goods.
Want to work with coconuts? Try making Coconut Flour. It’s a more absorbent than other flours and works great for Pancakes, for instance.
To make flours with a Blendtec blender make sure your using a Dry Jar, make sure to dry off any wetness and water in the jar, then add in your rice or wheat or almonds, run the blender on it’s highest speed for about a minute to turn your ingredients into a flour, which you can then use for baking breads and other recipes.
And this is just the beginning of what you can do with one of these blenders…
What’s the Cost?
Refurbished vs. New
When considering whether to invest in the Blendtec high-end blender 650 S blender, you may have questions like whether it’s worth the price. $600 for a blender seems steep, no matter how well it functions. This is where it helps to look at the long-term over the short term. Say you skimp and purchase a blender for much less…it’s pretty likely that the warranty won’t be as good on it either. Typically, the lower the cost, the lower the quality. If that’s the case, then you’re not only buying a lower quality product that you’ll likely have to replace, but you’re also buying a worse warranty as well, which means when the inevitable happens and a part needs replacing, you’ll probably have to buy another blender.
If you’re like us and use a blender every day, then purchasing a new one, at full price, but with a warranty that last 8 years (!) is completely worth it. Blendtec understands that it’s a high price point, and offer a payment plan through Affirm for qualifying buyers, starting at $53 per month. This means that you can pay your appliance off in less than a year, but if you have any problems with it, you’ll still be able to receive new parts AND shipping free of charge! It’s a much better value, if you ask me. Plus the functionality of the thing is worth it alone, and it looks good in the kitchen.
If you choose to go the refurbished route, you’ll save even more money, although the warranty won’t be as good, refurbished Blendtec blender models are still a great deal and come with a warranty, you still get free shipping on parts repair and replacement. Plus, every refurbished blender comes with new parts already installed, so you won’t be skimping on quality.
Refurbished blenders are thoroughly inspected before being certified and resold. They’re checked for cosmetic damages, their touch pads are replaced, as are the rubber pads on the base. AND Blendtec also offers a payment plan on their refurbished models as well! So, in the end, it’s really up to you to decide whether you’d like a brand new appliance, or one that’s pre-owned. You’ll get the benefits of having a Blendtec either way. Our suggestion is that if you plan on using your blender almost every day, then get a brand new one. If you plan on having a slightly lower use amount, then maybe the refurbished one could work for you.
Blendtec Designer Highlights
Let’s talk specs. The Blendtec 650 S is a blending monster. No, it’s an actual a home appliance, but its blades literally spin at 300 miles per hour, which is so fast that the bad boy doesn’t even need to have sharp blades!!
But let’s outline these features in an organized fashion, here.
First off, you have a motor with a 3.8 horsepower motor. This is the part of the base that makes those blades spin at 300 miles an hour; the drive socket is made of steel and never needs to be replaced, so it’ll stand up to heavy use.
Then you have 15 amps, and 120 volts to keep the machine going strong.
Next, we have your touch pad, or the ‘illuminated capacitive touch interface which has your touch slider, automatic settings, and pulse feature. Your touch pad is how you’ll get the blending started, and adds to the sleek, modern design of this appliance.
This is closely followed by the 100 speed slider + base. If you choose not to use the preprogrammed settings, you have the option of getting extremely precise with the touch slider speeds of blending. This is perfect for those seeking a little more control. Don’t be fooled by thinking that the pre-set cycles haven’t been thoroughly researched and set to deliver the exact blend necessary.
In fact, the 6 preprogrammed cycles have been designed exactly for when you want to just let the machine do it’s thing. The cycles include Smoothie, Salsa, Ice Cream, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, and Self Clean. Blendtec has design these machines to do a lot of the grunt work themselves.
When you’re thinking about where to place your new blender, you have a few options. The dimensions are 7 inches wide, by 15.5 inches tall by 9.25 inches deep. It’s sizeable, but light, at 10.7 lbs, which means you can fit it into virtually any kitchen.
And finally, we have the outstanding 8-year warranty, with which any new repairs, part replacements, or shipments, will be handled by Blendtec free of charge.
Blendtec offers a 2 year warranty on all Blendtec Fit models, a 3 year warranty on refurbished models, and a 3 year warranty on separately purchased jars. However, the only catch is that the warranties are applied to residentially used blenders within the United States or Canada only. If you use your blender commercially – which technically qualifies as more than 3,000 cycles annually, the warranty is void. If you want to make a claim, you can do so directly on their website. Just be sure to have your serial number ready, and make sure not to try to fix any of the problems yourself! If there’s a faulty part, they’ll replace it free of charge, and send it to you free of charge as well… pretty good investment, if you ask us.
What’s in the Box
It’s always exciting to open a new toy, ahem, we mean serious kitchen tool. Wait, but no, seriously, all kidding aside, any blender of this caliber is able to do some serious work. When you get your shipment, you’ll get your Designer 650 S motor base, the BPA- free 5 side jar Wildside Jar with vented latching lid, and a Blending 101 quick start guide with recipes so that you’re ready to start blending from the moment you open it.
Where to Buy the Blendtec Designer Blender

You can also buy one off of Amazon, if you prefer. The options for where to purchase are as limitless as your blending opportunities. Happy Blending!
